We boast with a strong management team that brings with them a wealth of knowledge and a passion for the industry, ensuring long term relationships with satisfied customers and staff.

J.J. Wilmans (Josef)

Above everything else, Josef is an entrepreneur by choice.  By nature he is quick to turn business obstacles and problems into challenges and opportunities.  After school Josef started his own businesses. He is still Director and either full or part owner of all of these companies.

In 2000 Josef started Plantcor CC and, together with his selected business partners, over a short period of time has built the company from its small beginnings into a well-known and highly respected opencast contract mining services company.

Like his father, Josef is a technical specialist in the field of heavy earthmoving equipment.  He is a qualified mechanic with more than 17 years of technical experience gained through managing “yellow metal” businesses.

Josef and his team are responsible for all the mechanical support services required by the company’s operating divisions to ensure that Plantcor’s fleet of production equipment is properly maintained so as to ensure maximum availability.

K. Zech (Kai) - B Com (Law) LLB

Better known as a man with a vision, a strategist and an excellent negotiator.  Kai is someone who sets clear goals and objectives, plans how to achieve them and then sets the appropriate steps and processes in motion to achieve what he has set out to do.

Kai started his career in 1989 within a plant hire company, renting earthmoving equipment to the mining industry.  In 1991 it became clear that the company’s business should expand into mining and started rehabilitation of mines for the Government.  The mining section of the business was soon placed under Kai’s care.  It proved to be a viable business and as the company’s mining operation grew, it expanded into various areas of the market.  During this period Kai occupied the positions of Operations Director and Managing Director.  Projects under his care included managing new projects from planning phase to completion as well as taking over existing operations.

Due to the successes of the company and the reputation it had in the industry for service excellence, in 2007 the company was approached by a JSE listed company and an acquisition was concluded.

Since 2000 Kai was also involve, partnering with Plantcor through its many endeavours, with his main focus on all mining and operational aspects of the business.

C.M.V. Mahlangu (Clifford) – Advance Certificate in Bookkeeping - Pitman, London

Starting his career as an accounts clerk with Neopac in Swaziland, Clifford soon realized that he was meant to do other things. Hence in 1993 he followed his dream of becoming a businessman, starting his own business Likhaya Construction.

Through his skills in management and communication it did not take long before his ventures took off. He soon established a track record and gained experience in the construction and civil works industry. From the knowledge of industry rules and regulations he started implementing strategies and policies. This in return assisted Clifford to render professional services which included all aspects from budgeting and tendering to planning, coordinating, time managing as well as applying the principles of quality assurance to all stages during projects.

Plantcor, through a joint venture contract in 2010, completed work together with Clifford Mahlangu. The synergies of working together were apparent and in 2011 he bought a 15% share in Plantcor.

Clifford is responsible for the day to day management of all civil and bulk earthwork projects. Not only does he oversee these projects, but also does all estimating, coordinating and time management including quality assurance.
